"In 1996 we organized an investigation team to investigate what we could do with personal computers in a LAN system and how we could use groupware and the Internet.
Of course, we compared Hitachi's Groupmax with other groupware products such as Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange.
Eventually, we decided to install Groupmax because Groupmax provides easy-to-use functions and is suited to Japanese organizations. Also, Groupmax could reduce the work load of system administrators." said Mr. Takuya Arakawa of the Accounts Department.

• Marketing reports and budget documents are created using a spreadsheet program, and these documents can be sent or received in real time by electronic mail.
• Daily sales reports are created using a word-processing facility. Documents are now managed in a database by the Groupmax document management facility and full-text search is possible. Therefore, various information and know-how can be shared among the company's branches and head office for various purposes.
• Communication between the head office and branches improves by using Groupmax electronic bulletin board. Employees in different offices can keep track of each other and help each other by exchanging opinions.
• Use of the Internet provides information about the latest trends and customers whenever required.

"Since we installed Groupmax, we have been using electronic mail to send and receive clerical messages, and it has become easier to communicate with the head office and branches as well as other affiliated companies.
Also, we are glad to have the document management facility that enables us to collect and search our daily sales data, so that our employees can share the latest information easily.
