On September 1, Hitachi Limited will begin shipping a Groupmax enhancement. Groupmax is a software product that integrates groupware and workflow systems. This enhancement enables you to use multimedia mail including voice and images, and to send information managed by Groupmax via the Internet.

Recently more and more companies are installing groupware and workflow systems as the companies aim at reengineering business processes and aim at improving white-collar productivity. The more companies' activities are globalized, the greater the need for an open multi-platform system which can handle multimedia, access the Internet and link groupware systems.

In December 1994, Hitachi Limited provided Groupmax as a tool to promote business processing reengineering. Many companies use Groupmax because it can be easily incorporated into the organizations used in Japanese companies and it can be used immediately after installation. This Groupmax enhancement enables you to handle multimedia including voice mail and image mail. You can send your voice mail from a phone to Groupmax users when you are out, without needing a notebook computer or a personal digital assistant (PDA). You can also use e-mail to send images stored on optical disks. Documents managed by Groupmax can be exposed via the Internet without converting them to the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), and you can view such information via the Internet. These new facilities improve flexibility and productivity in various kinds of jobs, and improve information exchange.

Windows NT is now supported both as a server and a client. In support of an open environment, SCO UNIX, SUN Solaris, Macintosh, and Windows 95 will be supported in the future.
