Background for using Groupmax

Lack of information sharing was a big problem in the company.

NISSEI CORPORATION had been using a system for processing and managing sales data, but had no intranet system; they only had stand-alone personal computers and word processors. Some veteran employees even used to create sales reports and daily reports by hand.
These days, however, personal computers running on a LAN and an effective groupware system are vital for promoting work efficiency and information sharing.

Mr. Takuya Arakawa "In 1996 we organized an investigation team to investigate what we could do with personal computers in a LAN system and how we could use groupware and the Internet.
Of course, we compared Hitachi's Groupmax with other groupware products such as Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange.
Eventually, we decided to install Groupmax because Groupmax provides easy-to-use functions and is suited to Japanese organizations. Also, Groupmax could reduce the work load of system administrators." said Mr. Takuya Arakawa of the Accounts Department.

Information and know-how of individuals can be shared by all

In January 1997, Nissan Computer Technology Co., Ltd. installed Groupmax and approximately 100 Hitachi personal computers (FLORA 310) at NISSEI CORPORATION and started to construct a LAN system for intercompany networking. Also, the company started a training course for those who had never touched a personal computer. As a result, employees quickly learned how to use not only Groupmax but also various applications.

FLORA310"Since we installed Groupmax, we have been using electronic mail to send and receive clerical messages, and it has become easier to communicate with the head office and branches as well as other affiliated companies.
Also, we are glad to have the document management facility that enables us to collect and search our daily sales data, so that our employees can share the latest information easily.

In our company, it used to be difficult for different departments or groups of people to cooperate because customer information and business know-how were kept by individuals.
However, we hope that Groupmax will help us to achieve cooperative work in sales and development of new products by enabling the efficient sharing of information about sales and various know-how. Moreover, Groupmax will stimulate our personnel system and efficiently orient young employees in the company.", said Mr. Arakawa.

Everyone in NISSEI CORPORATION would like to make use of Groupmax fully for information collection, data communication between affiliated companies, schedule management and workflow management.
Groupmax seems to be a must for trading companies who stand between users and manufacturers and have to respond quickly to the latest consumer needs.
