Enhanced cluster support functionality for improved reliability Logo

2. Supporting MC/Service Guard on HP-UX
3. Separating programs from data storage disks

1. Providing a wider range of products that support Microsoft Cluster Server on Windows NT

We are now providing a wider range of products that support Microsoft Cluster Server on Windows NT. Groupmax supports one-to-one failover. This lets you run Groupmax applications by changing over the server if it fails. If you use this function, prepare hardware that supports Windows NT Server, Enterprise Edition 4.0.

1.1 Notes

(1) General
  • You can build a Groupmax system in a cluster configuration only by installing a new system. You cannot change a running Groupmax system to a cluster configuration.
  • Only the ACTIVE:INACTIVE=1:1 configuration is supported.
  • Only abnormalities with the machine and operating system are monitored for failover.
  • The system assumes all the required data already exists on the shared disk. You must place all the data required for processing on the shared disk.
  • The system does not handle any hardware errors with the shared disk. To cope with hardware errors, improve fault tolerance by adopting a disk array for mirroring or parity-protected stripe setting.
  • We recommend that you configure in a different frame those functions that do not support Microsoft Cluster Server. If you place in the shared disk a function that does not support Microsoft Cluster Server, the function might not be activated after changeover to the standby system.

(2) Client
If a server changeover occurs, after the server starts up you must restart the Groupmax client program on the client.

2. Supporting MC/Service Guard on HP-UX

Groupmax Enterprise Version 5 supports MC/Service Guard on HP-UX. Groupmax supports one-to-one failover. This lets you run Groupmax applications by changing over the server if it fails. If you use this function, prepare hardware that supports MC/Service Guard.

2.1 Notes

(1) General
The system assumes all the required data already exists on the shared disk. You must place all the data required for processing on the shared disk.

3. Separating programs from data storage disks

This function enables you to separate programs from data storage disks. It supports only new Groupmax system configurations. To change from an existing environment, you must reconfigure the system.
Separating programs from data storage disks is impossible for the following server functions: E-mail and electronic address book
