A DoS (Denial of Service) vulnerability was found in JP1/VERITAS Backup Exec for Windows Servers (SYM07-015).

Vulnerability description

A DoS vulnerability was found in the RPC interface for the environments in which media servers of JP1/VERITAS Backup Exec for Windows Servers were installed. Malicious remote users can exploit this vulnerability and execute arbitrary code.

Workarounds

Please carry out the following workaround until the fixed modules are available:

  • Restrict remote access to the ports used by JP1/VERITAS Backup Exec for Windows Servers to trusted and authorized systems only.
