Scalable database - HiRDB Version 8

HiRDB is an evolving database for continuing business services.

HiRDB Version 8 is a database that adapts easily to rapid changes in business environments. HiRDB takes a leading part in Hitachi Information Integration. Hitachi Information Integration provides data for systems based on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).

Rapid environment changes, system scale increases and complexity, and increased security risks are issues in today's IT industry. To handle these issues, Hitachi is working towards adaptive IT systems that integrate SOA-based services to reduce system configuration and operation costs. The implementation of service integration requires information integration, in which the informational assets used by each system are integrated together. This is why HiRDB Version 8 has been designed with information integration at its core.

HiRDB is a widely used database in many mission-critical fields. For HiRDB Version 8, we have added functionality required for information integration to our existing high reliability, focusing on three points: information utilization, security, and availability/reliability.

  • Hitachi will introduce advanced technology featuring HiRDB and SANRISE* at ICDE2005, one of the three major international conferences in the field of database technology, from April 5th to 8th, 2005.
International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE), sponsored by IEEE Computer Society, is an international conference where high-level technical presentations are made on the latest developments in data engineering. This year, the 21st conference will be held in Tokyo from April 5th to April 8th. During the event, Hitachi, Ltd. will present a keynote talk on integrated circuit tags and perform a demonstration experiment using our "µ-chip".
Also at ICDE2005, you can expect to see a presentation about Hitachi's HiRDB. Hitachi will introduce cutting-edge disaster recovery technology incorporating Hitachi's strength in both storage and database development. Using the Hitachi proprietary "hybrid data transfer method" that combines storage and database functions, you can learn the benefits of shortening disaster recovery time by constantly backing up data to a remote site while minimizing routine work response slowdowns.
